The term came from the place where young people congregated, the area of central Milan near Piazza San Babila where there were already several sandwich shops at the time. In these fast food restaurants, the boys showed off their designer wardrobe, characterized by a certain number of key pieces of the brands of the moment whose logos were clearly visible. Among the cult brands: Levi’s, Moncler, Best Company, El Charro

The paninari look has remained in the collective imagination and returns, cyclically, to inspire contemporary fashion. Some cult items have never disappeared in the collections of brands such as Levi’s which continues to offer the legendary 501 model, 5-pocket jeans with a high waist and straight leg. Strongly identifying the period, the Timberland shoes, both the Chukka model, high at the ankle, and the classic boat lace-ups, to be worn strictly with visible socks (patterned or white). Of both models, with the characteristic rubber sole, the brand continues to offer new versions but always vintage inspired

A genderless garment even in those days, the strictly oversized sweatshirt with a round neck brings you directly to the fashion of the eighties. Years before the affirmation of the No Logo culture, young people only looked for those with the maxi brand printed on the front. It has revived some of Think Pink, a brand loved yesterday as today

Piazza San Babila has remained in the hearts of the former paninari who, thirty years later, gathered in the heart of Milan to celebrate the fashion of those magical years. Between printed t-shirts and belts with maxi metal buckles, the meeting was a revival of clothing and accessories from brands that were well known at the time like El Charro
