A week of celebration in the Hard Rock Cafè for Freddie Mercury’s birthday

From 1 to 7 September in Rome, Florence and Venice the ‘Freddie for a Week’

Every 5th September Hard Rock Cafes around the world celebrate Freddie Mercury’s birthday, born in Zanzibar in 1946, with the ‘Freddie For a Week’ a week of events and initiatives in memory of the artistic and cultural legacy that has left us an authentic legend of music. From 1 to 7 September, the Hard Rock Cafes in Florence, Rome and Venice also celebrate the history and music of Freddie Mercury, with a musical program entirely dedicated to his successes and those of Queen, an evening of live music on the day of his 76th birthday and a week of food & drink proposals inspired by the most famous songs of the band and decorated with the characteristic mustache of the frontman.

Only for this period will the Killer Queen limited edition cocktail, based on mandarin vodka, pineapple juice, sprite and garnished with three cherries to recall the three colors (red, white and yellow) of Freddie’s most iconic image. In the rock shops of the three cities, during the entire period of celebrations, a collection of merchandising is also available (also on the site shop.hardrock.com) with pins and t-shirts in support of the Mercury Phoenix Trust, the voluntary organization, active worldwide in the research and fight against AIDS, founded immediately after the death of the star by Brian May and Roger Taylor together with their manager Jim Beach.

The purpose of Freddie For a Week is to to revive the legend of Freddie Mercury on his birthday through the involvement of his fans, the uninterrupted playback of his music and at the same time unite people in the fight against HIV.

In the Cafe on Via Brunelleschi in Florence on the evening of September 5th you can watch the show of Killer Queen, the first Queen cover band in Europe active since 1995, made up of some of the best musicians in the Florentine area and recognized by We Will Rock You (official Italian Queen fan club) as an “official tribute band” for Italy. The Killer Queen have always offered their own “philosophy” of tribute, focused not so much on physical similarity as on the passion and quality of the proposed show. Choice much appreciated by fans, of which they are very proud, which has totally distinguished them over the years from any other tribute. They were the band of Kerry Ellis in 2012 and in 2015 at the Arena di Verona they performed as a support band to Brian May, guitarist and co-founder of Queen.

In Rome the party will not be outdone. On Freddie’s birthday they will perform live i Queen Rocks, tribute band of the famous British group. Their show is a tribute made with heart and passion to Queen, their idols since adolescence. It was this distinctive trait that motivated them to interpret the performances as faithfully as possible, so much so that the instrumentation and amplification are similar to the originals and the performances studied in detail. The frontman is Andrea Prestianni, a musician who participated in the 2015 edition of X Factor, endowed with a vocal power and a remarkable interpretative ability.

To Veniceon the other hand, the evening of 5 September will be animated by the VICTORIA Queen Tribute Band, with a dynamic and engaging visual show, accompanied by extravagant costumes with a theatrical and decisive look. Star of the evening Manolo Soldera, who with his vocal mastery has joined internationally renowned artists such as Anastacia, Al Jarreau, Dolores O’Riordan, Tony Hadley and trodden stages such as Sanremo and Festival Show, and who will play the role of leader Freddie Mercury. The show will be lively and lively with changes of clothes and scenographic effects that will surprise the audience.
