‘I sincerely thank you for the recognition that I did not expect and I am happy to have hosted the Sbs Master in this room which is open to all positive initiatives that have to do with sport – the thoughts of the Minister for Sport and Young Andrea Abodi, moved by the Diploma received – a thought goes to the many years of career lived in this fascinating world with great values: I urge these young people to believe in it and to valorize them in their future work. While the president of Coni Malagò added: “Sbs is an expression of sport and its values at the highest level, a Master’s degree that Italian sports institutions and others have always looked at with interest. If I think about when it started, in 2005, It is impressive how the number of clubs and sports companies that support SBS has grown: a sign that investing in the training of new talent in the sports field was a winning intuition of a visionary family like the Benettons, who continue to give so much to sport” .
“Being graduated from the SBS Master is an honor for me – he declares Pavanello– like Macron we believed in this project from day one, so many students have passed through our offices and we still consider it a pool of resources of great importance”. While Rosolino added: “After my career in the pool I too had decided to undertake training projects, I believe it is important because there are many different facets of the sporting world, which as a simple athlete you struggle to understand. My commitment now is above all of a social nature, sport has remained within me and I try to pass on this passion and dedication of mine to the little ones, because sport is an important social factor and personal growth.”
“The one for sporting merit is a diploma that we care a lot about – he comments Christian Benetton, President of Verde Sport– because it wants to reward Italian excellence in the sporting field, not only from a technical but above all managerial point of view, to pave a path for young recent graduates who have been choosing the Master in Sports Business Strategies for 18 years to train and try to enter the Italian and international sports industry. The Master Sbs represents one of the most important aspects of the investment in sport that my family has been making for more than forty years.”
The Master in Sports Business Strategies (Sbs) is a post-graduate training course created in 2005 by Verde Sport, sports holding of the Benetton family, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Ca’ Foscari Challenge School. Now in its 18th edition, Sbs selects 30 newly graduated students every year with the aim of training them and introducing them into the world of work related to sport: the teaching phase, lasting six months, takes place in the La Ghirada sports center in Treviso, the heart button of Benetton sports activities, while in the following semester the students complete the internship period. Strengthened by the collaboration with 170 realities of the sport system (Federations, Leagues, Clubs, sporting goods companies, media centers, event agencies, …), the Master Sbs has formed a “team” of over 650 young people, of which the 86% currently work in the Italian and international sports context.
The annual Diploma Award ceremony took place for the first time at Palazzo Chigi, “home” of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, but the tradition of Diplomas for sporting merit has continued for 18 years now: among the graduates of previous editions Francesco Totti, Alberto Tomba, Arrigo Sacchi, Adriano Galliani, Giorgio Squinzi (Mapei), Alberto Bombassei (Brembo), Giancarlo Zanatta (Gruppo Tecnica), Evelina Christillin, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Lino Dainese, Nerio Alessandri (Technogym).
