His speech in the 33rd edition of the Book of Facts, published by Adnkronos
“Acea is constantly engaged in the search for cutting-edge solutions in the sectors in which it operates”. This is what the CEO and general manager of Acea, Fabrizio Palermo, writes in his speech in the 33rd edition of the Book of Facts, published by Adnkronos. “The first operator of water services in Italy, it will invest 1.2 billion to double and make the historic Peschiera aqueduct safe. A project that constitutes the most important investment in water infrastructure at a national level. Water is a exceptional development driver for the country and industrial management of the water resource guarantees an effective, efficient and economical service”. “The use of advanced technologies such as the Waidy System and artificial intelligence applied to water networks allows us to eliminate faults and monitor flows. Around the capital – specifies Palermo – an integrated network model will be created which it is desirable to replicate on a national scale” .
“Among the main Italian players in energy distribution, Acea manages energy infrastructures with awareness of the role it has in the energy transition process. A change – says the CEO of Acea – which requires targeted interventions that make the distribution network flexible and resilient. Digitalisation is a fundamental lever in this phase: remote control, IoT systems, second generation smart meters are some of the initiatives adopted. Acea was a pilot of the European PlatOne project, a new network management approach to optimize its operation and make it more stable and resilient even in the presence of large energy production from renewable sources”.
“In line with the European vision of the Circular Economy – the CEO then recalls – Acea manages the waste cycle by recovering, recycling and reusing the waste itself as best as possible and recovering energy when possible. The Group is the leading player in central Italy, where it manages several industrial sites including two waste-to-energy plants. Participation in the tender for the construction of the Rome waste-to-energy plant, thanks to the best technologies in the world in terms of emissions, confirms the constant commitment to supporting the capital in a crucial sector such as waste valorisation”.
“The creation of infrastructures – says Palermo finally – requires strengthening monitoring of legality: Acea has signed the National Framework Protocol with the Ministry of the Interior to discourage any attempt at criminal infiltration. Acea puts the person at the center of every company activity: this is where every project in all strategic sectors starts. For this reason, the Personnel Charter was signed with the unions which also aims to enhance and promote young internal resources and attribute important roles to women in all company sectors. The Group ranked first among Italian public service companies in the Europe’s Diversity Leaders 2023 ranking of the Financial Times and Statista obtained the Top Employers Italia 2023 Certification”.
