From 10 to 13 July, a selection of exclusive Alberta Ferretti dresses, worn on the world’s most important red carpets, will be offered by Sotheby’s in an online auction. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Emilia-Romagna Region to support families and businesses affected by the floods that shook the region deeply just a few weeks ago.
the words of Alberta Ferretti
“The idea of this charity auction was born in me in the days when I was preparing my fashion show in Rimini and the images of the incredible damage caused by the flood were scrolling on the news. I immediately thought it was important to actively participate in fundraising to support our region. So in addition to actively committing ourselves, with the support of our employees, to a donation and to having created sweatshirts whose proceeds from sales will go to charity, I have decided to start an auction of special clothes,” explains Alberta Ferretti. “It was a spontaneous act of approaching Sotheby’s as it is an absolute point of reference in this sector and I am very grateful to all its team for supporting me in such a professional manner for this activity, which I hope will contribute to helping the reconstruction in areas so severely affected.”
“We are very happy to collaborate with Alberta Ferretti on such a special auction. It’s not every day that you have the pleasure of combining these two disciplines – fashion and art – but it’s even more exciting to do so to raise the necessary funds for such an important cause”. Sara Miconi, Sotheby’s Head of Jewelery Department, Italy
The online auction will include 18 evening dresses worn over the years by a series of celebrities, such as Angelina Jolie, Sharon Stone, Amanda Seyfried, Eva Longoria, Cate Blanchett, Chiara Ferragni and Elsa Hosk, in exclusive moments of great international resonance, including the Cannes and Venice Festivals, the Vanity Fair Oscar Parties and the Baftas.
A selection of these dresses will be on display to the public at Sotheby’s in Milan on 11 and 12 July.
