Alexa becomes a concierge for hotels and hospitality establishments

After the launch in France and in the United Kingdom, Alexa Smart Properties for Hospitality arrives in Italy

Amazon has announced the hotel version of its voice assistant, with the launch of Alexa Smart Properties for Hospitality in Italy. The new service is the solution that Amazon has developed to allow guests of hotels, resorts and B&Bs to take advantage of Alexa while travelling. After the launch in France and the United Kingdom, it arrives in Italy at some hotels, including the TH Roma Carpegna Palace Hotel. Alexa allows guests to simplify certain tasks through Echo devices in hotel rooms: guests can ask Alexa to perform a series of commands such as play music, give weather information, check out, all through the use of voice. Thanks to Alexa, guests will be able to access a series of information relating to the hotel they are staying in, such as knowing the Wi-Fi password, the opening hours of the restaurant, bar or gym, saying, for example, “Alexa, What time does the restaurant open?”. Furthermore, customers will be able to manage the smart controls of lights, thermostats and curtains in the room they are staying in, request hotel services and report a maintenance problem. By pronouncing “Alexa, the air conditioning doesn’t work”, for example, the reception will receive the request and send assistance as soon as possible.

Through Amazon’s voice assistant it will also be possible to know the fastest route to reach the main attractions of the city or the traffic towards the airport. Just ask, for example, “Alexa, what’s the best route to the Colosseum?” and “Alexa, what is the traffic like for Fiumicino airport?”. The Alexa Smart Properties service is also aimed at the millions of tourists who visit our country every year. In fact, the devices present inside the accommodation facilities can interact both in English and in Italian. Guests use Alexa without connecting their personal Amazon account and have the ability to mute the microphone of the Echo device in the room. Also, voice recordings are not saved.

“Customers tell us they appreciate the intuitive nature of Alexa for tasks ranging from entertainment to asking for information to controlling the smart home. With Alexa Smart Properties for Hospitality, customers can experience the same comfort in their hotel room,” said Meryem Tom, Director Alexa Enterprise EU at Amazon. “Alexa Smart Properties for Hospitality gives hospitality managers new ways to create memorable stays for their guests.” Giorgio Palmucci, Executive Vice President TH Resorts, said: “TH Group is thrilled to be among the first chains in Italy to use Alexa Smart Properties at the TH Roma Carpegna Palace Hotel. We have always tried to innovate our offer, to offer the best possible travel and stay experience. We started by integrating new technologies into the booking process and are now focusing on the stay experience. Thanks to Alexa we will be even better able to guarantee our guests immediate feedback on all their needs: from simple information to specific requests for the staff. This will allow you to experience the same comfort experience as at home in the hotel, making your stay even more pleasant”.
