The fanbase of Alice in Borderlands appreciated the diffusion by Netflix social media of the new behind-the-scenes images of the Japanese show whose second season, consisting of eight episodes, has been streaming since last December 22nd. The content is also visible via Sky Q and via the app on the Now Smart Stick

The unpublished images focus on the individual protagonists of the dystopian series which is set in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, incredibly devoid of inhabitants. In this context Arisu (the actor Kento Yamazaki) and his friends try to return to their world by testing themselves in a series of dangerous games

The characters move in a city where the vegetation has taken over its spaces: the greenery, which has invaded the urban areas in a wild way, has also been recreated in some cases with special effects. Filming was done in Tokyo and neighboring areas of Japan

In the series, the protagonists act in conditions similar to those of a video game. The success of the series is based, in fact, on a plot in which reality is very similar to that of a video game. As in a simulation, the characters have to get out of dangerous situations which translate into real survival games

The action element, the dominant trait of the first eight episodes of the series, aired in 2020, also makes room for a more reflective dimension. The protagonists of the story wonder about their future and who is ruling the game

In overcoming the challenges that involve them, Arisu, Karube and Chota wonder how it will be possible to return to their normality and identify in the secrets of the city of Borderland the key to returning to the world they have always inhabited

A new maturity takes possession of the plot of Alice in Borderlands 2 that exceeds the dimension of the survival game – a narrative that the public is used to, especially after the success of Squid Game – to embrace a more complete and complex plot that brings the series closer to a classic of the genre such as Hunger Games

There is no word yet on the release of a third round of episodes by Alice in Borderlands. For now, the events narrated have covered a large part of the story told in the comics
