The Taormina Film Fest announces that actress Amber Heard, director Conor Allyn and actor Eduardo Noriega will join the 69th edition of the festival for the world premiere of “In The Fire” on June 24 at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. “In The Fire” is a gripping supernatural thriller starring actress Amber Heard as a cutting-edge psychiatrist who sets out to treat a desperate child in an age where psychiatry is not yet a respected science. Produced by Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment with Paradox Studios and Angel Oak Films, the film will be released in Italian cinemas in autumn, distributed by RS Productions in collaboration with Mirari Vos. Directed by Conor Allyn. In the cast Amber Heard, Eduardo Noriega, Lorenzo McGovern Zaini and Luca Calvani.
Set in 1899, the film follows a 38-year-old American psychiatrist who arrives on a wealthy farm in Colombia after being called upon to solve the case of a disturbed child following increasingly persistent allegations that the child is the devil. While the woman tries to psychoanalyze the child, the nefarious events intensify and her “cure” of her becomes a race to save the little one from the fury of his fellow citizens and, perhaps, even from himself. Conor Allyn directs a film with realistic and unexpected twists, emphasizing the triumph of love over hate in the struggle for salvation, with a positive and hopeful message: we can find love even when we thought its embers were had long since been extinguished, and thanks to it we can save ourselves even when we are far from deserving it.
Allyn’s previous works include his cross-cultural, modern western No Man’s Land, released by IFC Films on 300 screens and starring Frank Grillo, George Lopez and Andie Macdowell. Allyn also previously directed the Netflix Originals Walk. He laughs. Rodeo and produced I’m No Longer Here. The festival’s new executive and co-artistic director, Barrett Wissman, co-artistic director Beatrice Venezi and Superintendent Ester Bonafede announced the program of the 69th Taormina Film Fest earlier this month. Highlights include the Italian premiere of Indiana Jones and the Quadrant of Destiny, directed by James Mangold and starring Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies and Mads Mikkelsen with the cast present.
