Performance, energy efficiency, battery life, latest generation technologies. These are the main features of the 6000 series of AMD’s Ryzen processors, unveiled this year at CES in Las Vegas. Processors built on an architecture called AMD Zen 3+ that we got to experiment with testing Asus’ new ROG Strix G15 laptop.
Power and energy management
The Ryzen 6000 series, explain from AMD, guarantees 30 percent higher performance than the previous generation on thin and ultra-thin laptops. There are many fields for improvement, starting from advanced power management and excellent energy efficiency: on board, in fact, there are up to 50 new features that adapt from time to time to the activities carried out and that are able to guarantee, for example, up to 24 hours of battery life when watching videos, on a single charge. Additionally, Ryzen 6000 CPUs are able to use up to 30 percent less power when participating in a video conference, according to AMD.
Ready for the technologies of today and tomorrow
The Ryzen 6000 series is ready for the technologies of tomorrow: it is able, in fact, to manage peripherals that take advantage of the PCIe 4.0 standard (which offers greater bandwidth and faster storage), DDR5 type Ram (ideal for calculations and graphics ), USB 4 (capable of transferring up to 40 Gbps), latest generation Wi-Fi 6E; Plus, the integrated AMD RDNA 2 graphics card delivers super-smooth performance on any 1080p game. Among other features, the ability to improve the audio of calls and video calls thanks to an advanced noise cancellation that makes use of artificial intelligence, support for premium screens and the security features of Windows 11 “Microsoft Pluton”.
We had the opportunity to test the potential of the processor (in this case we are talking about the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H model with maximum acceleration up to 4.7 GHz and a graphics card on an AMD Radeon 680M chip) on an interesting Asus PC, the ROG Strix G15 . It is a PC particularly suitable for gamers: it has, in fact, an excellent NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card, a four-zone backlit keyboard with RGB colors and particularly comfortable and responsive keys, a processor cooling system with Liquid Metal, special fans (Arc Flow Fans) able to maximize air flow and a “sporty” design with aluminum cover. Not just gaming, however: we have in fact decided to use all the premium features of this laptop with our daily activities and, apart from the lack of the webcam (characteristic of this ROG Strix G15) we must admit that all the operations were carried out in super – speed, from photo and video editing to participation in international press conferences with dozens of participants, from finding information for our articles to consulting and cataloging archive material connected to Sky’s servers. Very interesting, among other things, the Asus Armory Crate software, which allows you to keep under control the temperature of the processor, the CPU and GPU uses, the status and frequency of the memory and all the audio-video settings.
