Apple Music Replay 2023, the most listened to songs of the year. Lazza number 1 in Italy


End of the year, time to take stock. Even when it comes to music and musical tastes. And if Spotify has published its Wrapped, Apple Music is no different and with Replay 2023 it gives its subscribers the opportunity to discover, listen and share the songs, artists and genres they have listened to the most. Apple Music also released its end-of-2023 charts, featuring the most successful songs of the year on Apple Music and Shazam and, for the first time, the most sung songs with Apple Music Sing.

THE ITALIAN TOP 10

Ash by Lazza, after second place in Sanremo, dominates the Italian charts, accompanied in fourth, fifth and seventh place by three other Sanremo songs (Two lives by Marco Mengoni, Super heroes by Mr. Rain, Tango of Tananai). Lazza also finds himself in eighth position in collaboration with Geolier and Takagi & Ketra thanks to ChiagneWhile Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52 by Bizarrap and Quevedo is the only foreign song in the top 10, in second place.

THE COUNTRY IS BACK TO NUMBER 1

Last Night by Morgan Wallen is No. 1 on the Top Songs of 2023: Global chart, with more plays on Apple Music worldwide than any other song this year. It is the first country song to reach number one on the charts since Old Town Rd (2019). In 2023, Last Night broke the record for the country song with the most days at No. 1 on the global daily top 100. In total, 11 country songs made the global Top Songs of 2023 chart, up from four last year. One Thing at a Time by Wallen is also in first place among the albums of the year.

J-POP IS ON THE RISE

At the top of our first Top 100 chart of 2023: Sing, which brings together the most sung songs of the year with the Apple Music Sing function, is the J-Pop duo YOASOBI with アイドル (Idol). The same song is also at number 7 in the year-end ranking of the most listened to songs, the highest position ever reached by a J-Pop song. Plus, it’s one of two J-Pop songs that made it into our global top 10, with Subtitle by OFFICIAL HIGE DANDISM in tenth place: a new record for this genre.

AFRICAN MUSIC REACHES NEW HEIGHTS

Nigerian star Rema dominates the Top 100 chart of 2023: Shazam with her Afrobeat song CalmDown, demonstrating the growing popularity of African music on Shazam. Also Rush by Ayra Starr e People by Libianca close the year among the most searched pieces on Shazam. The remix of CalmDown with Selena Gomez it is instead at number 12 in the global ranking of the most listened to songs: the highest position ever for an African song.

R&B is all the rage in the charts

R&B music is a very strong presence in the late 2023 charts. SOS by SZA was the second most listened to album of the year on Apple Music worldwide. Kill Bill dominates the Top 100 of 2023: most read lyrics, and is also in third place in the global song ranking. With three songs in the top 10, R&B is the genre with the most songs in the top ten. In total, the chart includes 14 R&B songs, up from 11 last year. All year-end charts are available on Apple Music.
