Aquaculture, Castagna (Pescagri): “We want to relaunch Italian companies”

Thus Rosa Giovanna Castagna, national president of Pescagri, on the sidelines of the conference ‘State of the art and future projects’ promoted by PescAgri, the association of Italian fishermen, in turn supported by CIA-Italian Farmers

“The association was created with the aim of supporting seawater and freshwater fishermen, and therefore also lake fishing. In fact, we want relaunch aquaculture businesses in Italy, because we have an excessive import of products from abroad. Being the demand for fish of very high quality, we must be able to take advantage of the fact that Italy has over 8000 km of coastline, promoting aquaculture, following the principles of biodiversity and environmental protection. as required by European policies”. As Rosa Giovanna Castagna, national president of Pescagri, on the sidelines of the conference ‘State of the art and future projects’ promoted by PescAgri, the association of Italian fishermen, in turn supported by CIA-Agricoltori Italiani for the protection, development and enhancement of aquaculture, and organized as part of the project “PescAgri we want!” funded by the Masaf.

“To ensure that this happens – added Castagna – the institutions could help us to make known the goodness of local fish, including farmed fish, and freshwater fish. We are all used to buying naturally caught fish, even in fishmongers’ shops and this is clearly not good, it’s not good for the environment, it’s not good for businesses and it’s not good for consumers either”.
