CEO Galante: “We focus on organic growth, supported by investments, hiring and new services”
The announced expansion of the Arcaplanet Group continues, the pet giant with almost 2 million loyal customers which, after the recent acquisition of the Maxi Zoo chain, is ready to start a new year with the opening of its 500th store in Italy. The appointment to celebrate this milestone is for next Saturday, in via del Fosso del Torrino 4/10 in Rome, in the Eur district, where the new shop is ready to welcome customers with their pets.
This milestone opens a new year full of objectives aimed at improving the all-round customer approach such as the strong omnichannel push with the launch of the new app which will allow the activation of further services, the investment to improve click & collect already chosen by 25% of digital customers, the complete overhaul of the loyalty program integrated with the implementation of sophisticated marketing automation. The expansion of the physical network is another point on the 2023 agenda with a strong focus on southern Italy. In addition to the openings, an important restructuring plan is planned for the existing stores which will allow the diffusion of a series of services such as the Pet wash which will reach 100 stores.
“This 500th store represents a starting point for the new course of the Arcaplanet Group – comments the managing director Nicolò Galante – after the recent acquisition of the Maxi Zoo chain with the consequent integration and rebranding of 112 points of sale completed last December. We are aiming for organic growth, characterized and supported by important investments, training, hiring and new services for customers and their pets”.
Even the inflation of this period becomes an opportunity for Arcaplanet to be close to its customers. Thus was born the ‘Hard-nosed Against Inflation’ Manifesto which includes as main initiatives: the Light Diets programme, with 15% discounts on brands and products adhering to veterinary diets, reduced prices on 400 frequently purchased products, as well as 1000 products on special offer every week and a 50% discount on the first purchase of food for those who adopt a new puppy. These are the commitments that Arcaplanet makes with Italian families. But above all, Arcaplanet undertakes to widen the offer of exclusive brand products in order to be able to offer a high quality and maximum convenience solution to every type of customer need.
The company will also continue to invest in training through the Arcaplanet Academy which offers a training plan to all collaborators, promoting internal growth with personalized career development plans. In 2022, over 60,000 hours of training were provided, with particular attention to the new resources launched in the role of Pet specialist. In 2023 all Arcaplanet staff will be involved with training plans on innovation, digital integration and customer service, providing for an increase in training hours of over 30% compared to the previous year.
Lastly, the social commitment, increasingly a priority for the company, is growing. Foodstock, the project with which Arcaplanet has been committed to combating food waste for over 5 years, reached a record milestone in 2022 with around 2 million meals donated to kennels and catteries throughout the territory, to which was added a special campaign in support of Ukraine, which led to the donation of 320,000 meals. Furthermore, the collaboration with the guide dog training center in Limbiate, the most important in Italy, will intensify.
“2023 – underlines Galante – is a year of great goals for us: a retail challenge that looks optimistically at the development of the network in Southern Italy, a strengthening of the omnichannel strategy with the launch of a new app that will make it possible to improve the relationship with the customer by helping him in the management of his pet, a store restructuring plan that will encourage the expansion of existing services such as pet wash. Furthermore, today is also an opportunity to launch our concrete commitment against inflation. In reality, we are committed to lowering numerous prices on our product range and offering discounts to those who, even in this historic moment, have chosen to open their home to the love of a pet”.
Another priority objective is to invest in the training of all personnel through the Arcaplanet Academy “with a plan for 2023 of almost 100,000 hours for our 2,750 colleagues”, remarked Galante. Social commitment is also fundamental, “which we plan to intensify with the objectives of further growth of the Foodstock project which in 2022 reached 2 million meals donated in addition to the 320,000 of the special campaign to support Ukraine. We also started with a new phase of support for the Lions Guide Dog Service which – since 1959 – has provided free guide dogs to blind people throughout Italy”.
