Artem Uss fled from Italy: “I’m back in Russia”

“The Italian court, whose impartiality I initially counted on, has demonstrated its clear political bias”

The son of the governor of Krasnoyarsk Aleksandr Uss, Artem, who escaped from house arrest in Italy in recent days, has announced that he is in Russia, writes the RIA Novosti agency. “I’m in Russia! In these few particularly dramatic days, strong and reliable people have been by my side. Thank you,” he said. “The Italian court, whose impartiality I initially counted on, has demonstrated its clear political bias. Unfortunately, it is also ready to bow to pressure from the US authorities,” he added. According to Artem Uss, in the current international situation, when Russian citizens are subjected to “games without rules”, returning to their homeland, even in such a “non-standard” way, is a victory.

Artem Uss and five other Russians have been charged in the US with evasion of sanctions, money laundering, smuggling of Venezuelan oil and transfer of dual-use materials. The governor’s son was arrested on a US mandate last October 17 at the Milan airport, from where he would have left for Turkey. In early December, he was transferred from prison to house arrest, the Russian news agency summarizes.
