Aspi, starting today cashback with plate: simpler refunds with the Free to X app

The new “Cashback with license plate” service is active from today, valid on the network managed by Autostrade per l’Italia and developed by the start-up of the ASPI Free To X Group. The service makes reimbursement simpler and more automatic, even for users who pay the toll with cards or cash, as is already the case for customers equipped with electronic toll systems: it will be sufficient to register on the Free To X app, entering your personal data and the vehicle license plate – which will be verified through the database of the Civil Motorization – to automatically receive the reimbursements accrued due to delays due to maintenance and modernization works on the motorway network.

Once registered, the app will notify the refunds to which you are entitled and therefore you will not need to make any further requests. All thanks to an innovative artificial intelligence system and a complex calculation algorithm necessary to define the reimbursements due, in addition to the 2 thousand cameras that Autostrade per l’Italia has installed in all the entrance and exit toll booths of its network. Thanks to the recognition of the license plate, the travel receipt (the so-called receipt) will no longer be necessary for travel on the Aspi network, although it is still advisable to collect it at the toll booth: keeping it as a back-up may in fact be useful in the case of any anomaly in the reading of the license plate or, above all, in the event that the journey takes place only partially on the Aspi network, i.e. involving other motorway concessionaires other than Autostrade per l’Italia, on whose networks the cashback is not active. To make reimbursements even more accessible to Free To X customers and expand the beneficiaries of reimbursements for the inconvenience caused by the construction sites provided for in the Aspi modernization plan, from 1 May the cashback will be recognized starting from 10 minutes of delay ( compared to the current 15) due to construction sites, for journeys up to 99 km.

“The plan worth over 21 billion euros for the modernization of the Autostrade per l’Italia network – explains the CEO of Aspi Roberto Tomasi – is an unprecedented challenge: people, skills and cutting-edge technological solutions are in field every day on our roads to ensure increasingly sustainable mobility. These efforts involve some inconveniences that we realize: this is why we try to offer refreshment and to meet the needs of our users. The “cashback targa” initiative is just the latest step in a process aimed at improving the travel experience: for us it is a fundamental project in the relationship with travelers, unique in Italy and in Europe “.

For commuter travelers or trucking companies that are almost all equipped with Telepass or other electronic toll systems, the Cashback service is already active automatically from 15 September 2021. In these days, thousands of already registered customers are receiving by bank transfer the refunds accumulated up to March 2022. For those wishing to register now, just download the Free To X app and register your on-board device by photographing an invoice, which shows the device code. Once registered, the app itself automatically proposes the refunds which will be calculated retroactively for 4 months from the date of registration. Road haulage customers registered with Consortia, on the other hand, will be able to join the Cashback service starting from May thanks to the partnership with the Telepass company. For them, the recovery of all retroactively repayable transits is envisaged starting from 15 September 2021, the launch date of the Cashback service on a national scale.

On the Free To X app, additional services have been activated that aim to simplify and improve the travel experience: the “Work Delays Forecast” service which allows users to plan the trip with an estimate of any delay due to the presence of construction sites . The estimate is available at intervals of 30 minutes and up to 7 days after the time when the customer requests forecasts; the possibility to pay a report of non-payment of the toll: if during the trip the customer was unable to pay, he can do it directly from the Free To X app. Just access the Services section, scan the non-payment receipt collected at the toll booth or the reminder letter received by post and pay the balance with credit or prepaid cards.

The service is available for non-payment reports issued by Autostrade per l’Italia, the Valle d’Aosta motorway junction, the Naples ring road and the Autostrada Tirrenica company. Within the “Travel” section of the app, there are also additional useful services , such as cameras for monitoring traffic flows; the calculation of the standard toll; the positioning of active tutors along the motorway network and a function to identify the cheapest fuel prices in the various service areas available.
