Atalanta-Udinese 2-0, goals from Miranchuk and Scamacca

Fifth consecutive home win for the Nerazzurri who climb to fourth place

L’Atalanta overcomes the Udinese practice with a 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium thanks to goals from Miranchuk and Scamacca in the first half, finding their fifth consecutive victory at home. Gasperini’s team thus climbs to fourth place on 36 points, overtaking Fiorentina, who will be playing against Inter tomorrow, while Udinese remains stuck on 18 points. La Dea, unbeaten in 2024, had come off three victories in the last four matches, including the one at Milan, which meant qualification for the semi-final of the Italian Cup.

For the match the Nerazzurri had to do without Koopmeiners, Hien and Lookman, still involved in the Africa Cup of Nations, so the coach inserted Miranchuk in the attacking midfield, behind the pair of Scamacca and De Ketelaere. Four, however, are unavailable for Cioffi, all now long-serving: Deulofeu, Bijol, Ebosse and Davis. The coach has deployed Perez at the center of the defense, despite the Argentine being at the center of transfer rumors that would have him one step away from Napoli.

The match

The home team immediately came close to taking the lead with Scamacca and Scalvini, then in the 33rd minute found the advantage thanks to Miranchuk, who turned De Ketelaere’s assist from the back into the goal. In the 35th minute Ebosele tries but Carnesecchi is well positioned. In the 43rd minute Udinese were still dangerous with Samardzic who collected a loose ball on the edge of the area and kicked hard towards the goal but Carnesecchi put it away for a corner. In the 46th minute Atalanta doubled their lead: the Belgian supported Holm’s throw-in with his thigh for his teammate and Scamacca concluded by crossing for 2-0.

At the start of the second half Atalanta were still close to scoring. In the 56th minute De Ketelaere lifts the ball into the area for Holm who coordinates and hits a semi-inverted kick but the Juventus goalkeeper blocks it. Udinese keeps possession of the ball and looks for space in the Atalanta defense without succeeding. In the 79th minute a central free kick from Lovric almost surprises Carnesecchi but he blocks it in two halves. Udinese no longer has an impact and Atalanta takes home an important success for the standings.
