Relay in the square in Grosseto. The format is unique: teams from all over Italy are competing and are inspired by a family unit in terms of age. At the start an under 14: an under 25 takes the baton, then an under 35, an under 50 and an over 51. Today’s is a highly symbolic message that aims to underline the importance of the family and involve athletes of all ages in a single and exciting day of sports, united to achieve victory”, as explained by the President of Asi, Claudio Barbaro present at the event. It was the Corricastrovillari company that won “La Staffetta della Famiglia”, arrival in Piazza Duomo in Grosseto, the national event included in the ASI National Championship “Staffetta in piazza”, this year in its third edition.
“It’s always exciting to see so much participation and enthusiasm during our event. This makes us proud and confident in always organizing new initiatives and thus encouraging our values linked to sport and social issues as a body like Asi”, commented Marco Pietrogiacomi, creator of the format and organizer of the event together with the technical manager Massimo By Marcello.
The event concluded with the award ceremony of the participants who distinguished themselves during the relay in the presence of the President of Asi Claudio Barbaro, the Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Grosseto and Deputy Fabrizio Rossi, Simona Rusconi Councilor for Budget also of the Municipality of Grosseto, by Manuel Vescovi Head of the Asi Special Projects sector, by Sandro Giorgi Head of Asi Athletics, Alfio Giomi, former President of Fidal who personally wanted to preside over the race by intervening as institutions.
“We are at the third edition of the Family Relay, during which we promoted sport as a social and aggregating factor for the benefit of the weakest groups. One of the example countries in this sense is Iceland which provides us with encouraging data regarding the results achieved with reference to alcoholism and drugs, which have significantly reduced in percentage terms thanks to sport”, commented Manuel Vescovi National Manager of Asi Special Projects Sector
“A beautiful day in Maremma, in Grosseto: sport and solidarity in the setting of Piazza Duomo, where every year we invest through sporting initiatives because sport is health, aggregation and community. We are increasingly in favor of encouraging outdoor practices in especially for teenagers!”, underlined the Hon. Fabrizio Rossi, Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Grosseto and member of the bicameral childhood and adolescence commission.
”We will certainly propose this event again because it places the family at the centre, an essential nucleus for overcoming difficulties and uncertainties. I thank everyone, especially the kids for being so involved!”, also said Simona Rusconi, Budget Councilor of the Municipality of Grosseto.
