Atp Montecarlo 2023: Sinner, Berrettini and Musetti in the second round

Italian trio in the round of 16 of the Atp Masters 1000 tournament in Montecarlo 2023 (clay, prize money 5,779,335 euros). Jannik Sinner, number 8 in the world and 7 in seeding, takes advantage of the withdrawal of Argentine Diego Schwartzman, number 36 in the ATP ranking, on a score of 6-0, 3-1 in favor of him. Sinner will face the Polish Hubert Hurkacz, number 13 in the world and tenth seed.

Matteo Berrettini beats the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, number 33 in the ranking, 7-5, 6-7 (1-7), 4-6 in two hours and 43′ minutes. The blue, n.22 Atp, will now face the Danish Holger Rune, number six of the seed, who today beat the Austrian Dominic Thiem in two sets 6-2, 6-4.

Lorenzo Musetti, number 21 in the world and 16 in seeding, surpasses the 19-year-old Luca Nardi from the Marches, number 159 in the ATP ranking and coming from the qualifiers, with a score of 6-0, 6-0 in 50 minutes. After the success in the derby, Musetti will face the 35-year-old Serbian Novak Djokovic, number 1 in the world and first seeded, in the round of 16.

Instead, Lorenzo Sonego’s race at the Montecarlo ATP stops. The blue stops in front of Daniil Medvedev in the round of 32: the Russian wins 6-3 6-2 in about an hour and a half of play.
