Yesterday evening a man driving a car launched himself at breakneck speed on passers-by who were on the seafront, an area very popular with tourists. The vehicle overturned and the driver, once he got out, according to the police he tried to shoot before being killed by the security guards

Israeli police have confirmed that the perpetrator of the attack is an Israeli Arab from Kfar Kassem, northeast of Tel Aviv. The name of the terrorist – according to the media – is Yousef Abu Jaber, 45 years old. The Israeli media had reported the possible theft of Abu Jaber’s car – a Kia – by unknown persons, explaining that therefore he could not have been the author of the attack. Hypothesis later denied

Many authorities who expressed their condolences, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni who expressed “closeness to the victim’s family, to the injured, and solidarity with the State of Israel for the cowardly attack that hit him”

The attack immediately rekindled the already high tension in recent days and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called other reservists after those of the air force. Hamas and Islamic Jihad did not fail to express their satisfaction with the attack, which they described as a “high-level operation”.
