Australian Open, Djokovic beats Etcheverry and flies to the round of 16

Serbian Novak Djokovic qualifies for the round of 16 of the Australian Open thanks to success in three setswith a score of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), over Argentine Toma’s Marti’n Etcheverry.

The world number one will now challenge Adrian Mannarino, seeded number 20, who eliminated Ben Shelton, seeded number 16, 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-4 after 4 hours and 45 minutes of play. Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori still advance in the doubles draw.

After the comeback victory over Romain Arneodo and Sam Weissborn, the two Italians defeated the French Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, champions at Wimbledon 2019, with a score of 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6 -3. In the round of 16 the Italian pair will face the Serbian Nikola Cacic and the Ukrainian Denys Molchanov who created the main surprise in the tournament by eliminating the number 1s on the scoreboard, Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek.
