Bad weather, Bper and Cia united in support of Emilia Romagna agricultural companies affected by floods

From Bper Banca, loans, for liquidity or investment purposes, may have a fixed duration of 24 or 36 months and an amount between 15 and 30 thousand euros.

United to support the farms in Emilia-Romagna affected by the flood, BPER Banca and Cia-Agricoltori Italiani signed the agreement that allows farmers to meet immediate financial needs, thanks to a zero-interest and zero-cost loan. The agreement, according to a note, was signed today, at the Cia Cesena headquarters, by the head of the Agri Banking Service of Bper Banca, Oliviero Giacomo Falconi, and by the national president of Cia, Cristiano Fini.

The joint initiative of Bper Banca and Cia is intended to overcome the particular moment of difficulty that companies in the sector are going through as a result of the floods that occurred in the territories of the provinces of Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna, Forlì -Cesena and Rimini during 2023 and which compromised company activity and production yields. The historic and consolidated collaboration between Bper Banca and Cia is central, which allowed the agreement to support the flooded businesses to be reached quickly. The protocol, signed today, gives Cia the opportunity to “deliver” to agricultural companies damaged by the flood the funds raised with the national campaign promoted for the emergency, a ceiling to cover the interest and costs borne by the applicants , in favor of associated companies. For its part, the bank renounces its profitability in the financing operation by applying favorable conditions limited to covering its costs.

Thanks to the contribution in terms of interest and expenses covered by the CIA allocation, the agreement therefore allows associated companies to access interest-free and zero-cost financing from Bper Banca. The loans, for liquidity or investment purposes, may have a fixed duration of 24 or 36 months and an amount between 15 and 30 thousand euros. Finally, by January 31st, interested companies will have to contact the local Cia offices directly responsible for verifying compliance with the requirements and issuing the ‘Accompanying Letter of Presentation’ necessary to request the subsidized loan at the Bper Banca branches.

“The agreement reached quickly with Cia Agricoltori Italiani is the result of a relationship of knowledge, mutual trust and collaboration with the world of agriculture which sees Bper Banca always attentive and close to one of the most important sectors of the Italian economy. It is a wealth of our territories that we support in this moment of difficulty and that we want to increasingly accompany in the path of growth and sustainability also thanks to the launch of the new Agri Banking Service. An innovative hub of expertise that provides agricultural companies with a widespread structure of dedicated specialists across the national territory”, declares Oliviero Giacomo Falconi, head of the Agri Banking Service for Bper Banca.

“The effects of the flood that hit Emilia-Romagna in May are far from over. The enormous problems that we are still facing express the exceptional nature of the catastrophe that has struck a community, a territory and its productive sectors such as, first of all, agriculture which in a land of records in the sector is, today, struggling with an unprecedented crisis. Just think of the fruit and vegetable sector which is experiencing a drop in production of over 60% and with peaks of up to 90%. This is why the agreement with Bper Banca is strategic for us, it allows us to respond to an important need for access to credit, with ad hoc tools and solutions, repeatedly requested by farmers in difficulty, and in particular to put on the ground a concrete solidarity project for the restart of the agricultural companies in Emilia-Romagna which were seriously damaged, but which never gave up”, comments Cristiano Fini, national president of Cia-Agricoltori Italiani.
