Orange weather alert, today 8 September 2022, over much of the Veneto and some sectors of Lombardy. Also assessed yellow alert on Trentino Alto Adige, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio, on the remaining territories of Lombardy and Veneto and on some sectors of Valle D’Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise and Campania . An unstable flow, with a center of action on Great Britain, is therefore approaching our country and, in the next few hours, will activate conditions of marked instability in the northern regions. Showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally of strong intensity, will affect much of the North, and, today, will extend to the central regions, especially those of the Tyrrhenian side. On the basis of available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved – which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned – yesterday issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. From the early hours of today, scattered rains of a thunderstorm character are expected on Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and Marche, extending to Umbria, Lazio and northern Campania. The phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, frequent electrical activity, hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.

LIVORNO – The strong disturbance on Livorno from the early hours of dawn, with the exceeding of the rainfall limits provided for by the Civil Protection plan, led the municipal Civil Protection to open the Coc at 5.20 with the activation of all the alarm procedures on a local scale. This was announced by the Municipality of Livorno explaining that “around 4.15 a thunderstorm cell had formed which hit Livorno extremely intensely, and it was a self-healing and persistent storm, with intense lightning strikes and rains concentrated in specific areas (in succession Stagno, Corbolone, Valle Benedetta) “.

At the Corbolone rain gauge, 118 millimeters per hour were touched, and the maximum efficiency of the Civil Protection was put in place, which sent an alert call at 5.30 and sent the auctioneers to the area to warn directly of the most risky situations . Six Municipal Police teams with loudspeakers called for maximum caution (risk of flooding and landslides).
