Belluno accident, car hits family: father, grandmother and 2-year-old boy died

Mother injured. The grandfather who arrived on the spot was taken ill. Salvini: “Increasing road safety is my goal”

A car hit a family of four in Santo Stefano di Cadore, in the province of Belluno. The balance is tragic: a 2-year-old boy died, his 47-year-old father and 64-year-old grandmother. The child’s 42-year-old mother was hospitalized in a non-life threatening hospital in Pieve di Cadore. Driving the car that overwhelmed her family, a 31-year-old German woman who lost control of her car. Toxicological tests have been ordered for the woman and her position is being examined by the judicial authority.

The child’s grandmother and father died instantly, while the child died after being transported to the hospital. The grandfather of the children, who arrived at the scene, was taken ill and also transported to the hospital.


The Minister of Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, says he is “deeply shocked and saddened” by the tragedy that occurred in Santo Stefano di Cadore. “I embrace the relatives of the victims and all their loved ones and pray that the toll does not get worse”, says the minister, reiterating that “increasing road safety is my goalas a father even before as a minister, and tragedies like this brutally remind us of the importance of being responsible and attentive to the rules ”, concludes Salvini.
