Berlin Film Festival 2024, Jasmine Trinca on the jury

Jasmine Trinca was included in the jury of the Berlin Film Festival called to award the Golden and Silver Bears of the German film festival. This is what emerges from a press release from the Berlinale itself. The actress, who is also involved in directing, works alongside four fellow directors (the American actor Brady Corbet, the Chinese from Hong Kong Ann Hui, the German Christian Petzold, the Spanish Albert Serra) and the Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko. The president of the 74th edition of the Berlinale, as already announced, is the actress, director, producer and best-selling author Lupita Nyong’oKenyan-Mexican.

The other jurors

For the Encounters section, which awards three prizes (best film, best director and Special Jury Prize), the jury is made up of the director and screenwriter Lisandro Alonso (Argentina), the director and producer Denis Côté (Canada) and the director and screenwriter Tizza Covi (Italy).

Judging the short films will be the director and screenwriter Ilker Çatak (Germany), the sound artist and researcher Xabier Erkizia (Spain) and the director, screenwriter, video artist and teacher Jennifer Reeder (USA).

The director and screenwriter Eliza Hittman (USA), the film curator Andréa Picard (Canada) and the producer Katrin Pors (Denmark) will decide the best first film, Bear transversal to all sections. The director and screenwriter Abbas Fahdel (Iraq/France), the director Thomas Heise (Germany) and the anthropologist Véréna Paravel (France) will elect the best documentary, another transversal award.

The Glass Bears and the cash prizes foreseen by the Generation section will be awarded by the jury composed of the director Amjad Abu Alala (Sudan), the actress Banafshe Hourmazdi (Germany / Iran) and the director and screenwriter Ira Sachs (USA).

The winners of the Bears will be announced on February 24, specifies the note from the Festival scheduled from February 15 to 25 with 20 films in competition.

Who is Jasmine Trinca

Born in 1981, she made her debut after being noticed by Nanni Moretti who was looking for a non-professional actress to play the role of Irene, Laura Morante’s daughter, for the film ‘The Son’s Room’.
