Biden in Kiev, the White House ‘lie’ about today’s program

Train journey for the US president from the border with Poland, secret news until the end for obvious security reasons

Joe Biden arrived in Kiev by train from the Polish borderrevealed the New York Times shortly after the arrival of the American President in Ukraine, a few days before the anniversary of the start of the Russian invasion. The news of the visit was kept secret until the last minute for obvious security reasons and in this logic the White House ‘lied’ about Biden’s program. The American president left Washington in secret, after having dinner on Saturday evening with his wife Jill in a restaurant in the capital. Last night the White House released today’s President’s program in which Biden, in Washington, was supposed to leave for Warsaw in the evening.

The President’s Air Force One took off from Andrews Air Force Base at 4:15 am Sunday morning (local time). Reporters who followed Biden were not allowed to bring electronic devices, including cell phones, on board. From dinner with his wife Jill in a Washington restaurant on Saturday night to this morning in Kiev, the president has not been seen in public since.

In recent days, the White House had denied that the President, in Kiev today with National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Jen O’Malley Dillon, and Councilor Annie Tomasini, would have gone to Kiev during the his mission in Eastern Europe.

Biden had visited Ukraine six times as vice president. The last time he went to Kiev was in January 2017, just a few days before leaving the White House.
