Biden: “Republicans are calling for my impeachment because they want a government shutdown”

The President of the United States Joe Biden, on the sidelines of a fundraising event, attacked the Republicans, who: “They are calling for my impeachment because they want the shutdown”, that is, the blocking of the administrative activities of the United States government America. His statements are aimed at the decision of the speaker of the House, the Republican Kevin McCarthy, to give the green light to the investigation for the impeachment of the US president.

The Republicans’ accusations

Joe Biden would be accused of abuse of power, obstruction of justice and corruption, relating to the President of the United States’ alleged complicity in some of his son Hunter’s foreign affairs. The words that McCarthy reported in a statement on Capitol Hill were weighty: “Through our investigations we have discovered that Biden lied to the American people about his knowledge of his family’s foreign affairs. Eyewitnesses stated that the president joined multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions, dinners that netted millions of dollars for his son and his business partners.” However, 218 votes are needed to start the investigation and doubts emerge about whether the quorum will be achieved due to the risk of defections by some Republican deputies, who have said they are sceptical.
