Showtime has announced that the Emmy winner Damian Lewis will return as the character Bobby “Axe” Axelrod in the upcoming seventh season Of Billions. Having left the series at the end of the fifth season, the fan favorite is ready to get back into action for new episodes, particularly in six of the season’s 12 installments. From the very beginning there was always room for Bobby’s character to return, with co-creator Brian Koppelman telling Entertainment Weekly: “Goodbyes for Billions they are never permanent; nothing is set in stone.”

The return of Bobby

Koppelman told EW that “for a variety of reasons” Damian Lewis had said he wanted to leave the tv series for some time, citing the desire to spend more time with his family and to stay longer in England. In April 2021, the actor lost his wife, actress Helen McCrory, who died at the age of 52 from cancer. Therefore he needed time to process the loss and regain the energy and desire to return to his work. In a statement at the time of his departure from Billions, Lewis thanked the network and series co-creators Koppelman and David Levien, writing, “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to play Ax for five seasons with some of the smartest, funniest, most talented cast and crew I have ever worked with. have ever worked. I will miss the family Billions. Some jobs are more than just a job… they are love.”

The seventh season of Billions: What happen

In season 7 the alliances are reversed. Old wounds are armed. Loyalties are tested, betrayal takes on epic proportions, and enemies become wary friends. And, of course, Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the entire world. Billions also stars Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Condola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey and Daniel Breaker. Additionally, Toney Goins, who plays Philip, was promoted to series regular in season 7. Created and executive produced by Koppelman and Levien, Billions is currently in production in New York City and will be back on the air later this year.
