Black Friday week is perhaps the biggest week of the year for Amazon, offering discounts on thousands of products and ideally kicking off the Christmas season. To celebrate Black Friday week, the e-commerce giant has inaugurated a pop-up store (i.e. a temporary exhibition space) which will remain open, in via De Cristoforis 1 in the center of Milan, until Sunday 26 November.
What’s in the store
Inside the Amazon Black Friday Fun House – created with a retro atmosphere typical of the Eighties and Nineties – numerous environments that show a small selection of the offers and product categories sold on Amazon, which can provide many ideas for Christmas shopping. Each product on display is accompanied by a QR Code that visitors can scan to find out price and information. And so between a 100% electric Fiat 500 and a wall dedicated to dolls and board games, between a tasting of prosecco and a hair style in a real beauty salon by Fanola, a professional brand of hair care products , it is also possible to play pinball and arcade games such as Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Tetris while an area is dedicated to Made in Italy: here you can support small and medium-sized businesses (and taste a good panettone from one of these PMI, the Fraccaro pastry shop 1932). Finally, there is a “Charity” area where guests have the opportunity to discover Amazon’s charitable initiatives. The Amazon Black Friday Fun House pop-up is open to the public, with free entry, from November 21st to 26th, at the following times: November 21st and 22nd from 2.30pm to 9.00pm; on November 23 from 11:00 to 18:00; on November 24, 25 and 26 from 11am to 9pm.
Sales forecasts
“In this Black Friday week – explains Giorgio Busnelli, vice president of FMCG categories for Amazon in Europe to Sky TG24 – we offer discounts on hundreds of thousands of products of up to 40% on all categories, and we see a very positive response of customers already in the first days across all categories”. We also ask Busnelli about the importance of promoting Made in Italy: “For us – he replies – it is a very important part of the selection: there are 5,500 Italian companies that sell in 11 countries around the world through Amazon and we have around a million products . This fits into the broader context of our commitment to SMEs: there are 21 thousand small and medium-sized businesses that collaborate with us in Italy and last year we exported goods worth 950 million euros. We intend – he concludes – to reach 1 billion and 200 million exports by 2025”.
Alexa’s birthday
Inside the Fun House, you cannot miss a corner dedicated to Alexa devices: a voice assistant which is currently celebrating its fifth birthday in Italy. “We are very happy with Alexa’s results: in these five years – Giacomo Costantini, Senior Business Development Manager of Alexa in Italy, tells us – we have recorded more than 28 billion interactions, of which 11 billion in the last year alone. And we are proud to be included in the top ten of the Best Product Brand ranking for the second consecutive year. The objective – continues Costantini – is to make interaction with Alexa increasingly natural, engaging and intelligent”.
