“Too much land has been consumed in Italy, too much has been consumed in Emilia-Romagna since the war”
“I hope that this government will be able to implement a national planning law that goes against land consumption and also provides resources for urban regeneration.” Thus Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, in his speech at the inauguration of Ecomondo.
“We have a problem of land consumption. Too much land has been consumed in Italy, too much has been consumed in Emilia-Romagna since the war. A few years ago we wanted the most restrictive regional law in the country. A law that it allowed us, within this legislature, to cut 25 thousand hectares of land that had already been decided in the Municipalities’ plans to consume. We must invest even more. That law is called zero balance land consumption”, he recalls.
“I am commissioner for the construction of the second regasification terminal, together with Piombino, in this country and we must do it because when they should have been built, Italy listened too much to those who only say ‘no’. I guarantee that within two years that regasification terminal will not be built for Emilia Romagna but for Italy. As you can see – he adds – when the government needs it it appoints me as commissioner for something: but we will really gladly do it because we are convinced that the energy transition is decisive”.
