The teaser trailer for Book Club – The Next Chapter, the second act of the comedy with the iconic US actresses Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda. In the cast there is also an iconic local actor: Giancarlo Giannini.
Universal Pictures has presented the video that anticipates what we will see in this new film, highly anticipated after the success of the original of 2018. The theatrical release is scheduled for May 11, 2023.

The previous, Book Club – Anything can happenwas also directed by Bill Holderman, director of this second chapter.
The new film sees Italy as the setting. Indeed: not only scenario, but even protagonist, together with Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen.
The latter play four best friends who decide to resume the journey they never took when they were young. The goal of this new adventure is to bring their book club to Italy, however what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday will turn into an adventure full of secrets that emerge, with many twists and moments out of control. The film Book Club – The Next Chapter is distributed by Universal Pictures.

The film

The characters played by the four protagonists, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen, are grappling this time with an adventure that will take them overseas.
The original title is Book Club: The Next Chapterand sees best friends Diane (Keaton), Vivian (Fonda), Sharon (Bergen) and Carol (Steenburgen) head to Europe for a bachelorette party.
“The book says we cannot reject our fate,” Steenburgen’s character tells her friends as she shows the book The Alchemist in the official teaser trailer. “And I think we should all go to Italy.”

Carol adds, “We may never get the chance to do something like this again.”
But things won’t go as the four protagonists expected…

“When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime country adventure”, with these words the film is introduced by Focus Features.

The film, directed by Bill Holderman, will be released on May 11 in Italy, while in the United States it is expected the next day.

The first teaser trailer for the film was released on December 19, 2022 and had revealed Vivian’s engagement, showing the girls of the Book Club living la Dolce Vita in Italy. But don’t be deceived by appearances: in the same teaser we see that the protagonists will end up in prison, among many other things that will happen to them!

The cast

say that Book Club – The Next Chapter has a stellar cast is an understatement.

Diana Keaton, Oscar winner, plays the protagonist Diane, a member of the Club and Book and widow. Recall that this character ends up falling in love with Mitchell (Andy Garcia) in the first film.

Jane Fonda, award-winning actress and living icon, reprized her role as Book Club member Vivian, who reconnected with her former lover from the original film.

Murphy Brown star Candice Bergen returns as Sharon, another book club member and federal judge.

Maria Steenburgen, the actress of I once met a billionaire (original title: Melvin and Howardthe 1980 film directed by Jonathan Demme), returned in the sequel to once again play Carol, one of the members of the book club.
Craig T. Nelson played Carol’s husband Bruce in the first film. He also comes back here in these shoes.

Andy Garcia played Mitchell in the 2018 original, the man Diane falls in love with after meeting him on a plane.

Don Johnson played Arthur, Vivian’s former love, in the first chapter of Book Club. And – judging by the teaser – in the second act he is her boyfriend.
At the endcrowns this exceptional cast an icon of our country: the Italian actor Giancarlo Giannini.
