Zelensky arrived in Brussels from Paris after seeing President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. And the move by the Elysée (and by Berlin) has certainly not gone unnoticed at Palazzo Chigi. For Meloni “it was inappropriate”. The premier said that “our strength must be unity”

The French president said he had no “comments to make” on Meloni’s statements. “I wanted to receive President Zelensky with Chancellor Scholz, I think we were in our role”, explained Macron arriving at the EU summit. “Germany and France, as you know, have had a particular role for eight years on the issue” of Ukraine, “because – he added – we have also conducted this process together, I think it is also up to Zelensky to choose the format he wants” for diplomatic talks
