Carli Award, not just economics: music takes center stage with Roby Facchinetti

XIV edition of the event wanted by the Foundation. Romana Liuzzo: “30 years after her disappearance, the thought of her is still topical”

An event full of surprises, starting from the number of winners. Fifteen excellences that make Italy great in the world: from institutions to business, to high finance, as per tradition. But, at the center of the ceremony, also sport, cinema and, for the first time, music. The XIV Edition of the Guido Carli Prize, promoted by the Foundation of the same name on 5 May 2023 at 5.30 pm, will be truly surprising. An evening as special as the anniversary it celebrates: the thirtieth anniversary of the death of the statesman, former Minister of the Treasury and former Governor of the Bank of Italy. The setting will be that of great occasions, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. With a special final performance by Roby Facchinetti and Veronica Gentili to lead the show.

“Thirty years later, Carli’s thought – underlines Romana Liuzzo, President of the Guido Carli Foundation – is still surprisingly topical. Nothing has aged: not his pragmatic and far-sighted Europeanism, not his proposals on bureaucratic and legislative simplification least of all his ability to combine intelligence and moral rigor, responsibility and attention to the new generations. For this reason we strongly wanted this year’s edition of the Award named after him to have a totally new look. Starting with the magnificent space that it will be hosted by the Teatro dell’Opera, a symbol of culture. Music will therefore have a leading role, with the exceptional presence of Roby Facchinetti, whom I thank in advance, and with another competitor of the latest Sanremo. absolute will be the fifteen winners and their stories: no longer just economists and entrepreneurs, but women and men who, with their talent and their genius, bring prestige to Italy in the world. There is no better way to honor my grandfather’s memory than to pay homage to those who make our country great, every day, with their work and his art”.

The ceremony will be opened by Romana Liuzzo, President of the Foundation and creator of the Award. After the institutional greeting of the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, and the intervention of Gianni Letta, Honorary President of the Foundation, the evening of honor will start, alternating moments of entertainment and spaces for discussion, the notes of music and words of the prize-winners and the jurors, with the journalist Veronica Gentili conducting the show.

Guido Carli’s image was imprinted on the medals specially produced by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato. The awards will be assigned after a selection made by the jury composed, in addition to Letta himself, by Ornella Barra, COO International Walgreens Boots Alliance; Vincenzo Boccia, President of Luiss Guido Carli; Urbano Cairo, President of Cairo Communication and RCS; Fedele Confalonieri, President of Mediaset; Claudio Descalzi, CEO Eni; Luigi Ferraris, CEO of the Italian State Railways; Stefano Lucchini, Director of External Relations of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group; Monica Maggioni, director of Tg1; Giovanni Malagò, President of Coni; Giampiero Massolo, President of ISPI and Mundys; Barbara Palombelli, journalist and TV presenter; Antonio Patuelli, President of the ABI; Stefano Sala, CEO of Publitalia ’80 and Francesco Starace, manager, former CEO and General Manager of Enel. In the audience there will be prominent representatives of the institutions, top managers and entrepreneurs, former awardees and many students.
