To the delight of the many (and very loyal) Cat Power fans, the good news is that the American singer-songwriter will be coming to Italy to bring her latest live album, entitled Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert.
The 52-year-old musician from Atlanta, born Charlyn Marie Marshall, will hold three concerts in our country in the month of July. She will perform in Gardone Riviera (in the province of Brescia), in Bologna and in Rome, bringing her album live which was released last November 10th.
“When they proposed that Chan Marshall hold a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, she set only one condition: to be able to remake Bob Dylan’s legendary 1966 concert from start to finish (the one with the infamous cry ‘Judas!’, immortalized in doubles Live 1966”, we read on the site specializing in music Rock wave. But there is a twist, which we will tell you about in the next paragraph…
Instead, you will find in the last paragraph all the details relating to the dates and locations of the three highly anticipated concerts with which Cat Power will bring live to Italy Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert.
Bob Dylan’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall wasn’t actually held in London
That, to say the least, legendary Dylan concert in the collective imagination remains located at the Royal Albert Hall, but in reality it took place somewhere else: at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester…
The qui pro quo arises from an error in the title of the original bootleg of Bob Dylan’s album. This “Gronchi rosa” thing, for example, makes Cat Power’s live album even more irresistible. When the American singer-songwriter made her request, her management didn’t try to hide the many doubts, but in the end the legendary Cat won.
There are three concerts with which the musician will enchant Italy
The US alternative music star will perform the concert in Italy with three dates, all concentrated in the month of July 2024.
The concert will open on 5 July 2024 at the Vittoriale Amphitheater in Gardone Riviera, in the province of Brescia, as part of the Tener-A-Mente Festival.
The next day, July 6th, Cat Power will play in Bologna at the Sequoie Music Park, to conclude her small Italian tour on July 7th in Rome, where she will perform at the Cavea Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone as part of the Rock in festival Rome.
The legendary Cat Power: one of the most appreciated singer-songwriters in the world
Born in 1972, this American singer-songwriter from Atlanta boasts a very loyal fan base.
Cat Power is acclaimed as one of the best artists to come out of the ’90s alternative rock scene. Her credit goes to her natural talent for composing intimate and minimalist songs.
Even the evolution of his sound has always involved the public enormously, starting from his first “dark-folk”, a mysterious and sensual sound that characterized the beginnings made of acoustic sounds and essential arrangements.
Then there was the phase in which the typical elements of rock, blues, country and soul were assimilated into his sound pastiche, with the addition of a light sprinkling of gospel. Pure veins of funky and electronic enrich the musical architecture of his creations.
12 albums acclaimed by the public and critics
In her now ten-year career, this singer-songwriter has produced 12 albums that have been acclaimed by both the public and critics.
And with “the beauty of 12 discs” not only is an expression made: the beauty it is the one that has always been the common thread regarding Cat Power’s works, since the dawn of her career.
His debut album is Dear Sir and dates back to 1995. The following year he released two albums: Myra Lee And What Would the Community Think. 1998 is the year of Moon Pixas the new millennium begins with The Covers Record (2000).
You Are Free came out in 2003, followed three years later by The Greatest. In 2008 it’s the turn of Jukeboxthen in 2012 it comes out Sun (or rather: arises Sun...). The 2018 Cat Power goes to press Wandererfollowed in 2022 by Covers.
The last album she released dates back to November 2023 and is the live album she will bring to Italy this summer: Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert (Live), album in which he retraces the entire concert of the American singer-songwriter at the Royal Albert Hall, even if – as we explained in the second paragraph – in reality that legendary musical event was somewhere else entirely, even in another city (Manchester instead of London).
