Lazio wins 2-1 on Celtic’s pitch in the match valid for the second day of Group E of the Champions League. The Biancocelesti coached by Sarri come back and win in full injury time: Pedro’s goal at the end is worth 3 points and first place in the standings at 4 points with Atletico Madrid. On 25 October Lazio visits Feyenoord, which they trail with 3 points: a positive result in Holland would be an important step towards the round of 16.

The match

Lazio tries to play the game at the start, but is punished at the first mistake. Maeda sinks, O’Riley pots for Furuhashi who makes no mistake in front of Provedel: 1-0 for the Scots. Lazio took the blow and tried to restart. The Biancocelesti struggled to create clear opportunities with the maneuver but had the merit of taking advantage of an inactive ball. At 29′ corner, header by Romagnoli and deflection by Vecino: 1-1. Celtic would like to start charging again but spaces are scarce and opportunities are not to be seen: Provedel has to engage in a couple of ordinary interventions on unrealistic conclusions.

The save in the 59th minute from Hatate’s insidious free kick was decidedly more complicated; the goalkeeper’s rebound became an assist for Johnston who missed the target. The teams seem to be headed towards a draw, but the end of the match is pyrotechnic. Celtic broke through and scored in the 81st minute. Cross from Johnston, Maeda touches and Palma holes Provedel: the stadium explodes, but the goal is canceled for offside. At the photo finish, Lazio strikes and takes the 3 points. Pedro freezes the home crowd in the 95th minute with a perfect header, 2-1 and a platinum victory.
