- The Chicago Marathon is known for its flat and fast course which has allowed the world’s best athletes to break 4 world records. This race is part of the circuit 6 World Marathon Majors along with London, Berlin, New York, Tokyo and Boston

- The 23-year-old Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum won the marathon, with a time of 2 hours 00’35”, a time that improves the previous record of 2 hours 01’19” which belonged to the other Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, two-time Olympic champion

WOMEN’S WINNER SIFAN HASSAN
- The Dutch Sifan Hassan, 30, just six weeks after the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, crossed the finish line in 2 hours 13 minutes 44 seconds, the second fastest time in the history of the women’s marathon

WOMEN’S WINNER 2022
- Last year it was Ruth Chepngetich to win for women. The Kenyan crossed the finish line with a time of 2h14:18, just 14 seconds above the record. Two weeks ago in Berlin, however, the Ethiopian Tigst Assefa set the new world record for the women’s marathon, in 2 hours 11 minutes 53 seconds

WINNER MEN 2022
- In the men’s category last year the Kenyan triumphed Benson Kipruto with a time of 2h04:24, followed at a distance by the Ethiopian Seifu Tura (2h04:49) and his compatriot John Korir (2h05:01)
