Citizenship income to 3.7 million people in 2022, on average 551 euros

The INPS data, the check has increased by 12% compared to 2021

Households that in 2022 received at least one month’s salary of citizen’s income or citizen’s pension there are almost 1.7 million (1,685,161), the average allowance is 511.11 euros and the total number of people who have benefited from the measure is more than 3.5 million (3,662,803). That’s what emerges from data released by INPS.

In 2019, there were 1.1 million beneficiaries of at least one month’s income or citizen’s pension, for a total of 2.7 million people involved. In 2020 there were 1.6 million nuclei, for a total of 3.7 million people involved. The numbers rose further in 2021: in fact, the beneficiaries of at least one month’s salary were almost 1.8 million, for a total of just under 4 million people involved. In 2022, therefore, there was a decrease compared to the previous year but the average monthly amount disbursed is growing over time: overall it increased by 12%, going from 492 euros in 2019 to 551 euros in 2022. The differential absolute between the South/Islands on one side and the North on the other is steadily above 100 euros per month, while that between rdc and pdc fluctuates around 300 euros per month.

In December 2022, there were 1.17 million households receiving income or citizenship pension with 2.48 million people involved and an average amount disbursed at national level of 549 euros. The audience of citizen income and citizen pension recipients is made up of 2.20 million Italian citizens, 201,000 non-EU citizens with EU residence permits, 84,000 European citizens, 3,600 family members of the previous categories or holders of international protection.

Also in December for households with minors (367 thousand, with 1.3 million people involved), the average monthly amount is 679 euros, and ranges from a minimum of 593 euros for households made up of two people to 739 euros for those made up of five people. There are almost 204,000 households with disabled people, with 456,000 people involved. The average amount is 491 euros, with a minimum of 389 euros for households made up of one person and 700 euros for those made up of five people. Distribution by relative geographic area sees 425,000 beneficiaries in the North, 327,000 in the Center and over 1.7 million in the South and Islands.
