Zanda: “I was struck by how the titles of the correspondence he left us are sufficient to give us a glimpse not only of the breadth of his interests, but also the complexity of his personality and character”
After many years of sorting and analytical inventorying of the papers, next Wednesday, January 17, at 3.15 pm, in the Sala della Regina of Montecitorio, the volume version of the inventory of Francesco Cossiga’s archive, donated to the Chamber under the presidency, will be presented by Gianfranco Fini, by the children of the President Emeritus of the Republic, Anna Maria and Giuseppe. At the same time, the computerized version will also be published online (https://archivio.camera.it/).
“I was able to scroll through the vast index of the thousands of units that make up the entire private archive of President Francesco Cossiga. I was struck by how the titles of the correspondence he left us are sufficient to give us a glimpse not only of the vastness of his interests, but also the complexity of his personality and character”, wrote Luigi Zanda in one of the introductory essays to the Inventory.
After the speech by the President of the Chamber, Lorenzo Fontana, and the greeting by Giuseppe Cossiga, Miguel Gotor and Giuliano Ferrara will talk about the figure of the former Head of State between history and politics, moderator Pasquale Chessa. The presentation will be completed by short interventions by the authors of the introductory contributions to the volume: from Giuliano Amato (‘The primacy of politics’) to Elisabetta Belloni (‘On the bends of history’). And then Gianni De Gennaro (‘The Rediscovered Letter’), Marco Minniti (‘The Builder’), Enzo Mosino (‘The Sense of Institutions’), Ludovico Ortona (‘The President’), Paolo Savona and Carlo Viviani (‘Cossiga and the economy’), Luigi Zanda (‘The multifaceted genius’), Pasquale Chessa (Materials for a political biography).
