“With less than two weeks to go, there are almost 1,500 registered for the 2023 edition of Nova Eroica that Buonconvento will host on Saturday 24 June. To these will be added about 200 participants in Nova Eroica Family which, on Sunday 25 June, will conclude the pedaling weekend of the Sienese village”. The organization of the amateur race made it known.
“In Buonconvento, the Nova Eroica village will be fully operational on Friday 23 June with the preliminary operations and the many scheduled meetings; the round table on “Sport and Health”, Eroica’s initiatives for the environment in close collaboration with Sei Toscana, the issues related to Road Safety with the Scarponi Foundation and the mayors of the area, in particular Rapolano Terme and Asciano, who ask, among other things, to reopen the Monte Sante Marie railway station and dedicate it to L’Eroica: “we are proposing to Railways and the Tuscany Region to work on a joint project that enhances mobility by train, in particular on the Siena – Chiusi section which has enormous value from a landscape and tourist point of view – declares Sandro Starnini, mayor of Rapolano Terme, leader of the request territorial – In particular, the station of Monte Sante Marie is of great interest, for example, for the practice of cycle tourism because it is located on the route of L’Eroica and on the route of the Crete Senesi cycle path. The station dedicated to L’Eroica would be a formidable attraction; it has been closed for decades but would require rather limited economic resources, especially regarding the technological aspect. It is a single track railway, once used by sharecroppers. Today it could welcome cyclists and enthusiasts who would reach the routes to pedal by train”.
