Dear renters, Landini in Statale: 4 students contest it

The young people belonging to the Cambiare Rotta student collective accused the union of deceiving its members and coming to terms with governments. The reply: “Now you can say that you exist because you said something to the secretary of the CGIL”

The general secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, after today’s demonstration at the Arco della Pace, went to the State University of Milan to meet the students who have been camping in tents since yesterday evening, to protest against high rents. Landini greeted the young people and, while he was talking to them inquiring about the continuation of the protest, he was challenged by four young people belonging to the Cambiare Rotta student collective.

The four accused the union represented by Landini of deceiving its members and coming to terms with the governments, without obtaining results for students and workers, indeed imposing social reconciliation. Among the criticisms, also the choice to allow the multinational Just Eat, repeatedly at the center of controversy, accused of exploiting its workers, to sponsor the concert on May 1st.

Landini listened to the boys’ complaints, trying to talk to them, then, realizing that the youngsters didn’t want to listen to him, he replied: “If you want to continue doing this, go ahead, I’m not Meloni and I’ve never been to government. Indeed, I went on strike against all governments. We are ready to do whatever there is to do. You must learn to listen and understand who your interlocutors are”. Then he added: “Now you can say that you exist because you said something to the Secretary of the CGIL”. In the meantime, some of the university students camped intervened in defense of the CGIL secretary, accusing their peers: “Who has ever seen you in university?”. And the four boys walked away.
