December 8, 81% of Italians choose European cities analysis, Sicily is confirmed as the top Italian destination, the spending ceiling is raised to 1,309 euros

The Italians are packing their bags for the Bridge of the Immaculate Conceptiona long weekend from8 December and until Sunday 10 and that 81% of travellers will spend in one of major cities of Europe. According to an analysis conducted by on bookings and searches for ‘flight + hotel’ packages, 12% of travelers will instead remain within national borders, while, considering the few days available, only 6% will embark on an intercontinental journey.

Regardless of the destination, the analysis highlights that, compared to the same period of 2021, the number of Italians who will travel on the occasion of the long weekend on 8 December is growing, so much so that recorded a +35% in terms of flight bookings and ‘flight + hotel’ packages.

The protagonists of the combined offers are the big European cities, with the Top 10 led by Paris, Barcelona and Amsterdam, followed by Lisbon, London, Prague, Budapest, Madrid and Istanbul. Spotlights also on Sicily, in eighth place in the ranking, which thus reconfirms itself as one of the favorite destinations for travellers, as already happened for the long weekend of November 1st. Finally, the average spending of Italians on holiday packages for the first long weekend in December – booked on average 61 days in advance against 44 last year – rose from 826 euros in 2021 to 1,309 euros in 2022.
