Filming has started Deceitthe Netflix series produced by Cattleya (part of ITV Studios) which will arrive on the streaming platform in 2024.
Directed by Pappi Corsicato (director of the film Perfect Illusion), starring Giacomo Gianniotti (the Diabolik 2.0 of the Manetti Bros. saga) and Monica Guerritore.
It is written by Teresa Ciabatti, Eleonora Cimpanelli, Flaminia Gressi and Michela Straniero, who have created a sentimental thriller that tells of a passionate relationship. The story will attempt to subvert the role of motherhood in Mediterranean culture, a truly epic mission given that we are talking about something deeply rooted in the bowels of our culture (a bit bigoted, let’s face it)…
The plot balances suspense, breaking down taboos and uncomfortable truths about love. This is certainly not a “canonical” love story. The relationship narrated here involves shadows and secrets, undermining social conventions and family balances.
The plot
Monica Guerritore plays Gabriella, a woman who owns a luxurious hotel on the Amalfi Coast. She is a lady in the true sense of the term: refined and elegant, she is a perfect testimonial of the wealthy class to which she belongs. Proud of her in her sixties and aware of her role as mother of three now grown-up children, her life now seems already written, undoubtedly already largely lived.
But things will change when she meets Elia (played by Giacomo Gianniotti), a charming and free-spirited young man. The same age as his eldest son, Elia exerts an irresistible charm on Gabriella. A lot of ambiguity is also part of this game of seduction, a fundamental ingredient for cloaking everything in enigma, as well as a lot of sensuality. Sensuality just overflows, this is a promise of the writers as well as the premise of the show.
Despite the age difference, Gabriella will rediscover herself as a woman and lover. For Elijah, this woman will be ready to put anything at stake, risking even affecting the relationship with her children and their inheritance.
