In Marina di Massa, the former M5S deputy presented the association he founded and of which he is vice president. “We want to raise funds, invent ideas to help and support just causes such as the Palestinian question,” he underlines. And he doesn’t change his position on the war in Ukraine: “Those who disagreed were declared Putin-like, but now it turns out that he was right”
The first event of the Schierarsi association of which Alessandro Di Battista is vice president (the president is Luca di Giuseppe) was held today in Marina di Massa. Taking sides aims to “give life to local groups and build projects together, organize activities, we leave the chatter to other realities. Then we’ll see”, said Di Battista in the large hall of the Torre Village. An unusual location for a national premiere, considering that the building, considered by some to be an eco-monster, was built in the 1930s by Fiat to offer happy holidays to its employees and has now been transformed into a hotel capable of accommodating 800 people and at practically bargain prices.
The aim is to “rebuild civil participation”
Many topics touched by Di Battista. One of them is the role of politician. “Politics is not a profession, professions are different. Thinking of politics as a profession is self-blackmail: one does not take sides so as not to suffer setbacks. If you have the idea of staying in the Palazzo all your life, to defend your job you end up saying yeses that you shouldn’t say and not saying nos that you should say. That’s conformism. But since politics affects all of our lives, compromising is detrimental.” This is why Schierarsi was born: the aim is to “rebuild civil participation”, around themes considered right. “Our idea is to transform thought into action, make plans together, raise funds, come up with ideas to help and support just causes such as the Palestinian question”, says the former deputy according to reports from the Courier, which then also reports its position on the war in Ukraine. “Anyone who disagreed was declared a Putinian but now it turns out that he was right”, remarked Di Battista to the thousands of people present. Many ideas: from the environmental civil service to public pharmaceutical companies, “an idea came to us after Covid: there are countries in the world where this has been done”, remarks the former grillino. Another proposal is that of bulk medicines: “Do you think we can write a bill together to force pharmacies not only to have medicine packs? It saves money, cuts waste, is good for the environment. I think it used to work like this in Italy. This can be done ”.
How Siding was born
The objective of the association is quite clear: as stated on its website, “Schierare has the objective of involving groups of citizens in the construction of proposals and projects in the interest of the country. The name of the association has not been chosen coincidentally we live in a historical period of great conformism and this is the time to take clear positions on national and global issues.Words such as sustainability, peace, self-determination of peoples and the fight against organized crime represent the heart of the actions in which the Association”. This is why Di Battista invites “people to join because it’s nice to build an association that lives thanks to the members, and to develop ideas. In my opinion it’s nice and I’m available as a megaphone to carry on battles and take the powerful on duty head-on “, underlines the former deputy. There is time for the future, made up of possible parties, programs and political candidates: “Let’s start with the projects and then we will make the appropriate assessments, without thinking about candidacies or forming political parties or movements. Many today recognize my credibility, no one can deny that I have always behaved well and if there is a need to leave the institutions to respect certain values, it is done. It is important to take clear positions, as long as they are not Christian Democrats. Let’s take sides”.
