Today the actor is an adult, he is 42 years old and for the first time he talks about his own illness. Salvatore, in fact, has been suffering from retinitis pigmentosa since the age of 12. The actor, in the documentary “With open eyes” explains that he only sees beams of light and then adds: “It was a blow to me, my parents and my siblings, the eldest of whom is affected by retinitis pigmentosa like me. For years I didn’t talk about it, I hid, I never told the truth to anyone who asked me why I hadn’t been an actor anymore. You find the way out of that labyrinth when you are no longer ashamed, when you accept what I call “my condition”.
