There could be a major cast change in the future of Doctor Who. While on the one hand the confirmation of Ncuti Gatwa in the role of the Doctor is not in the slightest questioned, there seems to be significant news regarding his companion. According to what was reported by Daily Mirror and confirmed by Variety, Millie Gibson could in fact be replaced by Varada Sethu (Jurassic World, Andor) in season number 15. Variety contacted the BBC for comment but received no response.
The 14th season airs in May
The series will return for its 14th season in May, on the BBC in the UK and on Disney+ in the rest of the world. And Gibson will still be playing Ruby for the time being. But starting from the following season, the filming of which is currently underway in Wales, the role of the Doctor’s companion should go to Varada Setuh, as has been confirmed to Variety from some sources.
PRODUCTION AND GUEST STARS
The series is still led by showrunner Russell T. Davies, who started the reboot of the series in 2005 and returned to write and produce the new episodes, with collaboration in the production of Bad Wolf. In addition to Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson, the 14th season of the Doctor Who will be able to count on important guest stars such as Yasmin Finney (Heartstoppers), series veteran Bonnie Langford, Jonathan Groff (Glee), Indira Varma (Obsession).
