Donald Trump will not return to Twitter, even if Elon Musk management were to reinstate him

The former President founded his social network, Truth, where he has 750,000 followers

Former US President Donald Trump said that he has no intention of returning to Twitter even if his profile should be reinstated after the ban by the social network in January 2021. Trump’s comment comes on the same day as confirmation that Elon Musk will be the new owner of Twitter after closing a $ 44 billion deal, and in the aftermath of several rumors that Musk management may decide to reinstate Trump in light of the new owner’s free speech statements. Rather, the former president said he will remain focused on his own social medium, Truth. “I’m not going back to Twitter, I’m going to stay on Truth,” Trump told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he will improve it and he is a good man, but I will stay on Truth and have no intention of reopening my Twitter profile.”

Twitter permanently banned Trump in early 2021, due to incitement to violence and hatred and in the aftermath of the attack on Capitol Hill. It wasn’t the first time that the former President violated the rules of the social network, but last year’s decision is final. Trump Media & Technology Group launched last February Truth Social for iOS, a private social network where Trump currently has a profile with around 750,000 followers compared to the 88.7 million he had on Twitter. Trump Media & Technology Group will be acquired by Digital World Acquisition Corp, which plummeted 9.5 percent on the stock market following the announcement of Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.
