After the success of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 between 2005 and 2007, Bandai Namco has surprisingly announced a new chapter in the Dragon Ball Z saga originally launched by the PlayStation 2 and capable of attracting millions of players with its frenzied fights. The confirmation of the “new awakening” came at the final of the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour event.
The trailer
The trailer shows some gameplay sequences taken from the original chapter of the series reproduced on an old CRT TV. Almost three-quarters of the footage is taken up with fight scenes from the first chapters of Budokai Tenkaichi in which protagonist Goku is seen transforming into the hero Super Saiyan Blue. This means that the new chapter of the fighting game will also include characters and events seen in the last chapter of the manga and anime saga, Dragon Ball Super.
The launch
Obviously the reference platforms or the launch window have not been revealed. The new title will almost certainly arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.At the moment the launch window of the new episode is not known. With the Japanese software house ready to launch another highly anticipated fighting game like Tekken 8, it is more likely that the release of the new Budokai Tenkaichi has been set by the studio for next year.
