Dua Lipa, new record: first artist with over 2 billion streams on Spotify

Record-breaking Dua Lipa. The British artist of Kosovar origin holds the distinction of being the first artist to have three songs with over two billion streams on Spotify, a result never achieved by other equally famous colleagues, such as Madonna, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé or Lady Gaga. A record that starts 2024 in the best way for the singer, who started the year with participation in the Golden Globes, where she was nominated for the song Dance The Nightpresent in the soundtrack of Barbiebut she was beaten by her colleague Billie Eilish for another song from the soundtrack of the Greta Gerwig film.

The record

Dua Lipa has only released two albums so far: Dua Lipa (2017) e Future Nostalgia (2020). Despite this, however, she managed to go beyond a threshold never exceeded thanks to three songs, that is New Rules, OneKiss And Don’t Start Now. The British artist has already won two Grammys, namely best new artist in 2019 and best pop vocal album for Future Nostalgia in 2021.

What’s new for 2024

The year promises to be full of news for the British artist. In fact, the release of a third album, already anticipated by, is expected in 2024 Houdini, the single released in the autumn of last year and immediately rose to the top of the charts. In February the musician will also make her acting debut in the film Argylle – The super spy, alongside Henry Caville and Bryce Dallas Howard. Based on the novel by Elly Conway, it features an introverted spy writer who rarely leaves her home but is drawn into the real world of espionage when she discovers that the plots told in her books are a little too close to the activities of a sinister clandestine syndicate.
