Earth Technology Expo in Florence: technologies for climate challenges

The Fortezza da Basso in Florence will host the first edition of Earth Technology Expo from 13 to 16 October: the fair dedicated to technological solutions for climate challenges. Presented today at the national headquarters of the Civil Protection in Rome, it will bring 100 exhibitors, 50 workshops and numerous meetings with scientists, research centers and ministers to the Tuscan capital.

A hi tech fair

Visitors can access the Ete for free. It will be necessary to book to participate in the events by downloading the official app of the event. In the Fortress it will be possible, among other things, to wear the new hi-tech helmet of the Fire Brigade, to understand how the first zero-emission electric ship produced in Italy works, to look at the ‘smart’ pylons that anticipate landslides and fires. The Civil Protection Department will participate in several initiatives, including the presentation of a ‘vibrating table’ to allow visitors to experience the experience of an earthquake. It will also be possible to come into contact with the technological platforms for the control of water, soil and the environment, or admire the optical fiber and infrared micro-cameras capable of “seeing” the heat emitted by victims of collapses.

Strengthen the dialogue

“The Expo in Florence will be characterized by meetings of the highest level, with all the protagonists and stakeholders of the various sectors”, declared the director Mauro Grassi. Issues such as the management of disaster risks and the process of ecological transition are central to the work of civil protection, “I am convinced that events such as the Expo Ete can contribute to strengthening the dialogue between institutions and the private world”, says Fabrizio Curcio, head Department of Civil Protection.
