Electricity bills and end of protection, auctions postponed to January 10th

Arera moves the auctions for the end of electricity protection for non-vulnerable customers to January 10th. This was decided in today’s extraordinary meeting by the Arera Board which approved the postponement by one month, to 10 January, of the date of the competitive auctions for the selection of operators of the Gradual Protection Service, to whom the non-vulnerable domestic customers and still in the electricity protection service. Before the surgery, the auctions were scheduled for next Monday.

The resolution follows the publication in the Official Journal of Decree-Law no. 181/2023 ‘Urgent provisions for the country’s energy security, the promotion of the use of renewable energy sources, support for high energy consumption companies and for reconstruction in the territories affected by the exceptional flood events which occurred starting from the 1st May 2023’.

With the same resolution, the Authority also instructed the Single Buyer, which manages the auctions, to promptly publish the updated tender Regulations with the new deadlines, which must be set in such a way as to guarantee the same minimum timescales currently envisaged by the Regulation, among the various activities instrumental to the assignment of the service through auction.
