Eminem’s daughter reveals the surprisingly strict rules her father made her follow

On the first episode of Mathers’ new podcast “Just A Little Shady,” which premiered July 15, she discussed not wanting to be “associated” with anyone who was underage drinking, for fear of being “in trouble.” .

Hailie Jade Mathers says Eminem was strict with her about parties.

Mathers’ father, Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has been open over the years about his pill addiction.

In a 2009 interview with VIBE magazine, the rapper detailed the addiction that led him to take as many as 20 Vicodin, Ambien, and Valium in a single day.

“The numbers went up so much that I don’t even know what I was taking,” Eminem told the publication.

After his first admission to rehab in 2005, Eminem said he nearly overdosed after an acquaintance gave him unidentified blue pills, which a doctor later told him were actually methadone.

“My doctor told me that the amount of methadone I had taken was equivalent to injecting myself with four bags of heroin,” Eminem continued. “I probably wouldn’t have taken it. But as bad as it was back then, I can’t even say 100 percent for sure.”

In another interview with the New York Times in 2009, Eminem said that he was “the worst kind of addict” because he was a “functional addict.”

“I was so into my addiction at one point that I couldn’t imagine being able to do anything without some sort of drug.”

Her father’s battle with addiction made Hailie Jade terrified of approaching drugs and alcohol and she explained that in high school she didn’t drink or go to parties.

“One of my friends came up to me and spoke right to my face and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re drinking,'” Hailie Jade recounted, adding that she was “so horrified.”

“I thought even being associated with someone there who was drinking was going to get me in trouble,” she continued, noting that she “never got in trouble” growing up because she “never did anything” to justify her father’s punishment.

“I feel like everyone was doing that, but I didn’t do it,” he said. “I was so naive about all of that.”

Mathers also did not attend any of his high school football games after the “first and last” one he attended.

Hailie Jade’s best friend and podcast co-host, Brittany Ednie, echoed the same sentiment, saying the rapper’s daughter was on the “right side” at the time.

The two friends also talked about Hailie Jade’s memories of her childhood: looking at them now, as an adult, shows her how out of the ordinary her life was as the daughter of a world-famous rapper.

They recalled a time when Hailie Jade invited Ednie on her father’s tour bus thinking a bus was something everyone had, before launching into a story about a trip the two girls took to Disney World in Florida.

“My dad was working on something and he was working all the time, but he set us up to make the limo and take her to Disney and have the princess tea party,” Mathers said. “He had the dresses waiting for us, we were both like Belle or whatever.”

While Ednie called the whole experience “so cute,” says Mathers, as an adult, she values it even more.

“Even then we were so happy and so excited, but we didn’t get to appreciate that moment as much as we do now, when we talk about it and look back on it, we’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, that was like, awesome.'”
