Protected energy market, 6-month extension in the draft legislative decree
The end of the protected energy market (electricity and gas) which was supposed to start on January 10th should be postponed by 6 months and up to a maximum of 12 months with changes to bills. This is what emerges from an article contained in the draft of the Energy Security Decree, whose approval has been postponed to next week.
“The Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment (Arera) – we read in the draft provision – ensures, with its own provisions, that domestic end customers without an electricity supplier are supplied by the operators identified following the competitive procedures launched by the pursuant to Article 16-ter, paragraph 2, of Legislative Decree no. 152 of 2021, subject to adequate information, to be carried out in coordination with the actions envisaged pursuant to Article 1, paragraph 60-bis, of Law no. 124 of 2017, in relation to the references of the operator of the gradual protection service identified for their area, providing that the transfer of the delivery points to the identified operators takes place no earlier than six months and in any case no later than twelve months from the date of conclusion of the competitive procedures”.
